Welcome to my Resume pages:
Will Harper Resume, page 1 (Cameo overview)
Currently
Hold a current DoD SECRET clearance; Microsoft Certified Trainer; and Microsoft
Certified Small Business Server Specialist.
On-call trainer; networking and computer systems
consultant. I
am a proven consultant, and trainer and I also have a very broad base in the
technical. I have had a series of
experiences in Mainframes, Minis, Unix, and data communications, but I have
devoted an enormous amount of time to understanding, specifying, integrating,
and managing MS Windows-based small business and enterprise solutions.
I also taught, for 8 years, a 7-month night course at the ECPI College of Technology in
Enterprise Windows 2000/NT Engineering, resulting in 80-90% MCSE certifications
for my Alumni. I also conducted the
Train-the-Trainer course Windows 2000, for the ECPI teaching staff.
Finally, I was a senior instructor in the undergraduate program for ECPI College
of Technology in the CIS networker curriculum. In this capacity, I taught
Windows NT Server and PRO; Windows 2000 Server and PRO; Windows XP PRO;
Windows Server 2003;
Active Directory (AD)
design and security;
DNS design, security,
testing, and troubleshooting; Cisco and Microsoft RRAS Routers, routing and
switching, TCP/IP basics and advanced subnetting design and implementation;
Novell Netware 5.x; Redhat Linux; A+ (Computer hardware and software basics); N+
(Computer networking basics); Advanced Microsoft Office applications (Word,
Excel, Outlook, Access, Power Point, Visio, and inter-application integration);
and Programming concepts and scripting (Perl and Windows scripting). For
feedback on my teaching efforts, check out my
Trainer "Bragging Rights"
page.
My
most recent consulting task was a several-month effort to assist a small
computer engineering business in obtaining their US Government 8a certification
as a Small, disadvantaged business - and to obtain a DoD Secret facility
clearance. I am currently consulting for the US Navy in the
Navy-Marine Corps Information (NMCI) systems Operational and acceptance
tests. This involves specific tasking from the COMOPTEVFOR sponsor via
another small business.
My last full-time employment was with a local Internet Service Provider. My
duties involved managing racks of headless, remotely-managed Compaq servers.
Most of the (Windows NT 4.0) servers are physically located in an Exodus
co-location facility in Sterling, VA (Washington) and were managed from Norfolk,
via the Internet. I developed
techniques to do remote, hands-on and scripted management and created overflow
capabilities using spare servers, which were kept on-line with only a generic NT
installation. Developed and employed remotely-administered command-line executed scripts to select a specified
“personality’ or functionality and deploy an operational server from a
pre-prepared Ghost image. All
applications, data, and web content were stored on and executed from a large,
600GB EMC Array. Database servers
were attached to the EMC via differential SCSI, and web servers were attached
using NT CIFS Network Attached Storage (NAS).
My experience is varied. This is because I am the person who is always called
upon to accomplish those things for which nobody has significant experience.
With each task accomplished, usually exceeding expectations, a new
challenge will be ready for solutions. I’m
sure you will also find a skill that is well-suited to your needs.
